SINGAPORE, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Grab, Southeast Asia's leading online to offline (O2O) mobile platform, announced on Tuesday a suite of APIs for partners to integrate their services with Grab in an effort to push forward the company's strategy to build the first everyday super-app in Southeast Asia.
According to the company, GrabPlatform is a refreshed Grab app that provides customers not only services but also information. Since Grab was founded in 2012, its app has mostly been used in Southeast Asia as a ride-hailing app with over 100 million downloads.
Grab said the home screen of its refreshed app features single tap access to payments and easy navigation to all everyday services, complemented by a news feed that helps users discover their city with location reviews and useful seasonal information, such as where the nearest mosques are during Ramadan or even the latest football scores at the World Cup.
"Our goal is for one Southeast Asian app to offer all the daily essentials you need, anytime you need it, and even before you know you need it," said Jerald Singh, Head of Product at Grab.
According to Grab, GrabPlatform will add more highly used everyday services, like GrabFresh, to the Grab app, together with its partners, who can use GrabPlatform to integrate their services with Grab.
"GrabPlatform amplifies economic value for all of Southeast Asia. Even more than what we could ever create by ourselves," said Anthony Tan, Group CEO and Co-founder of Grab.
Grab also said on Tuesday it launched a content partnership with Yahoo, which enables Grab customers to keep up to date with the latest news at any time in Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines from this July.
