MOSCOW, July 25 (Xinhua) -- The Russian Navy is preparing to celebrate its day on Sunday with six naval parades across the country, the Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday.

The main naval parade will be held in Russia's second largest city St. Petersburg. The other cities are Sevastopol, the base of the Black Sea Fleet; Kaliningrad, where the Baltic Fleet is based; Vladivostok, Severomorsk and Astrakhan.

Over 40 warships and boats, including missile corvettes, minesweepers, anti-sabotage and amphibious assault ships, as well as 38 warplanes and helicopters and more than 4,000 servicemen took part in the latest rehearsal of the main parade.

The parade will be led by the Northern Fleet missile cruiser Marshal Ustinov, a legendary ship that has been in service for more than 30 years.

The Northern Fleet's 152-meter long Oryal nuclear submarine will also participate in the main parade.

Russian Navy Day is celebrated on the last Sunday of July.
