TEHRAN, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Iran's missile and drone operation in Syria is the first stage of Tehran's retaliation on "terrorists" who targeted an Iranian military parade recently, top Iranian commander said on Tuesday.
"There will be other stages of revenge as well," Major General Mohammad Baqeri, chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, was quoted by Press TV as saying.
The attack proved that security of the country is a red line for the Islamic establishment, Baqeri added.
On Monday, Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps announced that it targeted bases of "terrorists" with six surface-to-surface missiles and seven drones in Syria.
The attack came in response to the Sept. 22 terror attack on a military parade in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz, in which at least 25 Iranians were killed and dozens were injured.
