CAIRO, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit and the visiting Russia's Envoy to the Middle East Mikhail Bogdanov discussed on Tuesday the latest developments in the region.
"The latest Syrian and Palestinian developments, in addition to efforts exerted to achieve Palestinian reconciliation, prioritized the meeting discussions," AL spokesperson Mahmoud Afifi said in statement.
Aboul-Gheit asserted the importance of working on reaching a peaceful settlement for the Syrian crisis, the statement added.
Bogdanov reviewed the Russian efforts exerted to end the Syrian crisis, it added.
They also agreed on boosting efforts to ensure the legitimate rights of the Palestinians, especially their rights to establish an independent state, it added.
