TOKYO, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday as risk appetite improved among investors following Wall Street's rise overnight.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 188.08 points, or 0.89 percent, from Thursday to 21, 221.84.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 12.51 points, or 0.79 percent, at 1,595.36.
Pharmaceutical, food, and information and communication-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell. Enditem
