WASHINGTON, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Star forwards LaMarcus Aldridge scored 26 points and DeMar DeRozan added 25 to help the San Antonio Spurs defeat the Denver Nuggets 120-103 at home in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA playoffs on Thursday.
Aldridge also had 10 rebounds, while DeRozan added seven rebounds and seven assists. Forward Rudy Gay came off the bench to score 19 points. Guards Derrick White and Bryn Forbes had 13 and 12 apiece.
Denver center Nikola Jokic had 43 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists, but his team ran out of steam in the final quarter, with the Spurs scoring 17-2 to establish a 20-point advantage. Though the Nuggets eventually rallied, it proved not to be enough, and the Spurs saw out the victory.
Guard Jamal Murray added 16 points and Gary Harris had 14 points for the Nuggets.
With both teams tied at 3-3 in the series, the Spurs' victory forced Game 7, to be played on Saturday in Denver, where the Nuggets had the league's best home record during the regular season. The winner of the series will take on the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference semifinals.
