Russia edge Serbia 3-2 in Men's Volleyball Nations League

BELGRADE, June 2 (Xinhua) -- After a dramatic show, Russia defeated hosts Serbia 20-25, 26-24, 25-23, 22-25, 15-10 in Novi Sad on Sunday in their third match of the FIVB Men's Nations League.

Russia demonstrated better blocking and won the first set. But Serbia equalized with strong serves and lots of errors made by the Russians.

The two teams wrestled for the advantage throughout the third set. Serbia came on top at 19-17, but soon trailed at 20-21 and Russia got in front once again.

After a tough struggle, Serbia manage to equalize at 2-2.

The home team established an early lead in the fifth set, but the Russians caught up at 7-7 and proceeded to win the match.

Russia marked two victories and a defeat so far, while Serbia lost all three matches of the first week on home court.

Serbia will try to improve the score on June 7 against Germany in Canada, while Russia will play at home against Portugal on the same day.
