MOGADISHU, July 13 (Xinhua) -- The East African bloc IGAD on Saturday condemned terrorist attack on a hotel in Kismayo, southern Somalia, in which 26 people were killed and 56 others wounded.
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) expressed deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of victims of the attack after the militant group stormed a hotel in Kismayo town and killed innocent people, including 10 foreigners.
"IGAD continues to stand in support and solidarity with the People and Government of the Federal Republic of Somalia in their fight against the menace of terrorism," said the bloc said in a statement.
Al-Qaida allied group al-Shabab has claimed the responsibility for the attack, saying four of its fighters entered the building with a car laden with explosives and carried out the attack.
