HANOI, July 19 (Xinhua) -- Two men were arrested on Friday in Vietnam's northern Hoa Binh province for transporting 100 cakes of heroin, Vietnam News Agency reported.
The duo, aged 25 and 30, both from northern Hai Duong province, were caught red-handed transporting the drug in their car on a national highway section in Mai Chau district.
According to the Vietnamese law, those convicted of smuggling over 600 grams of heroin or more than 2.5 kg of methamphetamine are punishable by death. Making or trading 100 grams of heroin or 300 grams of other illegal drugs also faces death penalty.
