BEIRUT, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Hezbollah MP Hussein Hajj Hassan said Monday that the Shiite party forecasts U.S. sanctions to increase in the coming period, the National News Agency reported.
"We expect the American sanctions to increase so we have to be fully ready to face this pressure by all means," Hajj Hassan was quoted as saying during a ceremony held in Baalbek.
Hajj Hassan said that while the United States, Israel and their allies were not capable of hurting Hezbollah militarily, they will also not be able to weaken the party by imposing economic and political sanctions.
"We will continue to face all this pressure with the same will and determination," he said.
The U.S. Treasury has slapped, last month, sanctions on three key Hezbollah figures, including two members of Lebanese parliament.
