Botswana's village pupils will have their fourth brand new school funded by the Chinese government. The Kazungula primary school to be built is yet another example of China's continued support to Botswana's education sector.
KAZUNGULA, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government will build a primary school in Kazungula, a village in the North of Botswana. This will be the fourth primary school in Botswana funded by a Chinese grant.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony held in Kazungula on Tuesday, Chinese ambassador to Botswana Zhao Yanbo said the grant was a people-centered initiative, aimed at assisting developing communities.
"China upholds the principles of sincerity, practical results and good faith in its dealings with Africa. The project will continue to further nurture the bilateral relations as education is key to transitioning to a knowledge-based economy," said Zhao.

The two countries' cooperation in the area of education has seen 1,454 Botswana personnel benefiting from scholarships and training programs funded by the Chinese government.
Frans Van Der Westhuizen, Botswana's Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, thanked the Chinese government for its continued support of development initiatives in the country.
"The gesture is a confirmation of the functionality of bilateral relations between the two countries and the new school will provide pupils with access to basic education," said Van Der Westhuizen. ■
