CHARIKAR, Afghanistan, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Taliban militants have set free eight employees of the election commission in the eastern Parwan province after more than two months of captivity, provincial governor's spokesperson Wahida Shahkar said Tuesday.
The eight employees of the election commission, according to the official, were abducted by the armed insurgents from Shinwari district on the Presidential Election day held on Sept. 28, but were released on Monday following mediation of the elders.
Afghanistan's fourth Presidential Election since the collapse of Taliban reign in 2001 with 16 candidates on the race was held amid tight security on Sept. 28, but the results have yet to be announced.
