Wei Dewang drives on a cliff-side road to visit poor households in Bahao Village, Dahua Yao Autonomous County, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Dec. 16, 2019. Bahao Village is located in northwest Dahua County and once had more than 90% of households living below poverty line. Wei Dewang, a 43-year-old father of two children, was dispatched to the village in April 2018, to lead local poverty alleviation work. He has kept working over 12 hours everyday for the past 20 months and has visited all poverty-stricken families with a 50,000-kilometer-long journey in total. Wei made a book of more than 100 pages detailing the information of poor households in the village. He led his team to solve poverty problems by promoting infrastructure construction and developing anti-poverty industry projects. With the construction of roads in mountains, renovation of dilapidated houses and building water storage facilities, the village's appearance has changed dramatically and the poor household share dropped to 61%.
