KUNDUZ, Afghanistan, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Taliban militants attacked an airfield in the northern Kunduz province triggering gun battle which left six militants dead on Sunday, army spokesman in the restive province Abdul Khalil Khalili said.
According to the official, the armed militants fired three rockets that slammed into the airfield outside Kunduz city, the capital of Kunduz province, around noon and the soldiers at nearby returned fire killing six insurgents.
Four more militants had been wounded in the firefight, the official added. There were no loss of life or property damage at the airport, Khalili further said.
The Taliban outfit has yet to make comment.
