TIRIN KOT, Afghanistan, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Seven security personnel were killed as a roadside bomb struck security forces convoy in the southern Uruzgan province on Wednesday, provincial government spokesman Zalgai Ebadi said.
According to Ebadi, a mine planted by militants in Khas Uruzgan district hit a security forces convoy Wednesday morning, killing seven security personnel including an army soldier and a senior police officer.
In the meantime, police in crackdown on militants have arrested a Taliban group commander Qari Shir Jan in Khenjan district of northern Baghlan province, provincial police spokesman Jawed Basharat said Wednesday.
In similar operations, police also captured three Taliban fighters in Dasht-e-Archi district of Baghlan's neighboring Kunduz province on Wednesday, local police officer Mohammad Amin said. Enditem
