NEW DELHI, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Navies of India and Bangladesh on Saturday kicked-off a three-day naval exercise in the Bay of Bengal, officials said.
The bilateral exercise, Bongosagar, has begun in the northern Bay of Bengal.
According to the Indian defense ministry, this is the second edition of exercise Bongosagar.
The first edition held in 2019 was aimed at developing inter-operability and joint operational skills through the conduct of a wide spectrum of maritime exercises and operations, officials said.
"In the upcoming edition of the exercise ships from both navies will participate in surface warfare drills, seamanship evolutions and helicopter operations," the defense ministry said.
This exercise will be followed by the 3rd edition of India-Bangladesh Coordinated Patrol in northern Bay of Bengal from Oct. 4 to 5, according to the ministry. Enditem
