LONDON, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- China's Luo Honghao was handed a bye to the second round of the Snooker English Open after opponent Peter Lines tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.
Lines, 50, was due to play Luo in the first round of the world ranking event on Tuesday but received a positive test result for COVID-19 ahead of the match.
The 20-year-old Luo will face Jimmy Robertson, who defeated Chinese Chen Zifan 4-1 in the opening round.
Since Peter Lines had come into contact with his son Oliver Lines, the latter, who beat Noppon Saengkham 4-1 in the first round on Monday, has also been withdrawn.
Oliver Lines' second-round opponent Anthony McGill received a bye to the last 32.
In other first-round matches on Tuesday, former world champion Shaun Murphy edged Robert Milkins 4-3 while world number one Judd Trump came from 3-1 down to see off Louis Heathcote 4-3.
Trump's next rival is Yuan Sijun, the 20-year-old Chinese beat Moroccan Amine Amiri 4-1.
Ahead of the start of the first round on Monday, Stuart Carrington and referee Andrew Barklam tested positive for COVID-19.
Carrington came into contact with Sam Craigie on Sunday, so both players have been withdrawn from the event. Enditem
