YAOUNDE, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Three Cameroonian soldiers were killed when the military ambushed and raided a camp hosting separatist fighters in Lebialem, a division in Southwest, one of the two troubled Anglophone regions of Cameroon, security sources said on Wednesday.
At least 12 armed separatists were killed in the offensive that started on Sunday and ended on Tuesday, according to the same sources who asked not to be named.
Twenty people including women and children held hostage by the separatists were freed during the operation, according to local authorities.
Armed separatists want to create an independent nation in the two English-speaking regions of Northwest and Southwest. They have been clashing with government forces since 2017. Enditem.
