KIEV, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- A total of 450,934 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 8,312 deaths have been registered in Ukraine on Saturday, while 204,229 patients have recovered, according to the health ministry.
A record 10,746 people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country in the past 24 hours, while 8,685 patients recovered, the ministry added.
Ukraine's Minister of Health Maxym Stepanov said on Friday that the ministry plans to increase the number of COVID-19 beds to 75,000.
"Today we have 52,000 beds that are allocated for the treatment of patients with COVID-19. We believe that we can increase about 20,000-23,000 beds. That is 75,000 beds. It is clear that they must be prepared," Ukrainian news outlet Ukrinform quoted Stepanov as saying.
Earlier, Stepanov informed that the agency is planning to introduce the so-called weekend quarantine, with only grocery stores, pharmacies and transport working on Saturdays and Sundays.
The Ukrainian Parliament passed a law Friday imposing fines for those who fail to wear a mask in public places.
According to the bill, any individual inside a public building or riding public transport during quarantine without wearing respirators or protective masks covering the nose and mouth would be fined 170 to 255 Hryvnia (6-9 U.S.dollars). Enditem
