BEIJING, October 26 (ChinaMil) -- China has been taking an active part in the UN peacekeeping operations and has already become a major contributor of troops and funds to the peacekeeping operations, making important contributions to safeguarding world peace and security with concrete actions, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying said at a regular press conference on October 23, 2015.
“On October 22, the UN Committee on Contributions estimated that China would surpass Japan in peacekeeping budget contribution rates in 2016, jumping to second from sixth, with the U.S. topping the list. What is China's comment?” a reporter asked at a regular press on that day.
Hua Chunying answered that as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China has been taking an active part in the UN peacekeeping operations and has already become a major contributor of troops and funds to the peacekeeping operations, making important contributions to safeguarding world peace and security with concrete actions.
Hua stressed that during President Xi Jinping's attendance at the UN summits marking its 70 anniversary, he announced a series of major measures to support the UN peacekeeping operations, showcasing once again China's sense of responsibility in upholding world peace.
China will continue to participate in the UN peacekeeping operations, honor its due financial obligations and pay its share in the UN peacekeeping contributions in line with the UN principle of capacity to pay, making positive contributions to world peace and security, Hua added.
