  Question：In recent times, Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro kept making an issue of the South China Sea and making false remarks about China. Do you have any comment?

  陈曦：菲个别政客为一己私利，靠极端反华捞取政治资本，靠制造“威胁”大搞扩军谋权，靠搅局闹海换取外部支持，种种行径直接损害菲国家安全和人民福祉，严重威胁地区和平稳定和东盟共同利益，对中菲两国两军关系带来破坏性影响。事实胜雄辩，公道在人心。中方始终坚定维护国家领土主权和海洋权益，并致力于与地区国家共同将南海打造为和平、友谊、合作之海。

  Chen Xi：A certain Philippine politician cares only about his selfish interests. He is trying to gain political influence by taking an extreme anti-China position, expand his own military power by creating "external threats", and trade for foreign support through stirring up troubles in the South China Sea. All these moves have directly jeopardized the Philippines' national security and people's well-being, greatly undermined regional peace and stability and shared interests of ASEAN, and had destructive impact on the China-Philippine bilateral ties and defense relations. Facts speak louder than words, and justice will prevail. The Chinese side remains committed to firmly safeguarding national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests, and building the South China Sea into a sea of peace, friendship and cooperation together with regional countries.
