WASHINGTON, May 10 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday met with former secretary of state Henry Kissinger to discuss Russia and Syria.
Trump told reporters after his meeting with Kissinger that the conversation was "about Russia and various other matters."
"We're talking about Syria and I think that we're going to do very well with respect to Syria and things happening that are really, really positive," Trump said.
"We're going to stop the killing and the death," he added.
Trump said that Kissinger has been a long-time friend and that it has been an honor to go over the issues with the veteran diplomat.
The meeting took place after Trump hosted Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the White House.
