Kenya's bourse key index rallies to four month high

NAIROBI, May 12 (Xinhua) -- The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) 20 Share Index rallied for the third consecutive trading session to end Friday at a four-month high of 3,244.72.

On Wednesday, the index rose 33 points to settle at 3,175.41, boosted by a surge in local investors' trading.

Safaricom, Kenya's leading telecom, was the biggest mover Friday after trading 7 million shares, down from 19 million in the previous session. The share, however, gained 0.8 percent.

Insurance firm CFC came in second with 6 million shares at 0.15 dollars after going up 5 percent while KenRe was third with 5 million shares.

Some 29 million shares valued at 6.8 million U.S. dollars were traded at the bourse Friday.

NSE All Share Index, similarly, rose to 137.80 from 137.64 while the NSE 25 Share Index closed the day at a high of 3,636.73 from 3,620.80. Enditem
