NEW DELHI, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Indian meteorological department on Monday predicted heavy rainfall in several parts of the country.
"Rainfall at most places, with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places, with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places is very likely to occur over Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur and over coastal districts of north Odisha and southeast West Bengal during next 24 hours," meteorological department officials said.
The favorable monsoon conditions, according to officials, developed because of deep depression over southeast Bangladesh and neighbourhood
The officials have warned about squally winds and rough sea conditions along and off north Odisha and West Bengal coast during next 12 hours.
"Squally winds speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph would prevail over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during next 24 hours," officials said.
"Fishermen along and off north Odisha and West Bengal coasts are advised not to venture into sea during the same period."
