NEW DELHI, June 18 (Xinhua) -- India's Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawar Chand Gehlot said on Sunday said the federal government was contemplating a law for the welfare of transgenders.
The law according to Gehlot would be enacted by the end of this year.
Ghelot said while speaking at a programme in Jaipur that the law will help bring transgenders in the mainstream society and benefits of various schemes and programmes will reach them.
Officials said the law provides scholarship, education, assistance for transgenders' education abroad and many more benefits would be available to them.
