SINGAPORE, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Singapore Changi Airport registered an 11 percent year-on-year growth in passenger traffic between China and Singapore last month, the airport announced on Tuesday.
It said the number of passengers travelling between the two countries via the airport amounted to more than half a million person times in May, or about one in 10 passengers at Changi during the month.
According to the airport, it registered 5 million passenger movements in May, 4.6 percent higher than in the same period last year.
India led the gainers among Changi's Top 10 country market, as the passenger traffic rose 21 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, aircraft movements rose 3.2 percent to 31,200 landings and takeoffs, while cargo shipments saw strong double-digit year-on-year increase of 12.6 percent to reach 177,340 tons.
As of June 1, more than 100 airlines operate at Changi Airport, connecting Singapore to some 380 cities in about 90 countries and territories worldwide.
