RAMALLAH, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian National Unity Government said Tuesday that it will form a national team to demarcate the maritime borders of Palestine.

According to a statement by the government, the team will get in touch with neighboring countries in order to establish the maritime borders for the Palestinians.

Palestine has been member of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea since 2015, according to which, it has the right to control its resources within its maritime borders.

The Palestinian government warned against the violation of the rights of the Palestinian people and their sovereignty.

It called on all countries, institution and companies "not to work, directly or indirectly, within the maritime border of the state of Palestine, including the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), without coordination and necessary approvals by the relevant official bodies."

EEZ is a concept of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, adopted since 1982, whereby coastal states assume jurisdiction over the rights to explore and make use of resources within 200 miles off shore.
