LONDON, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Monday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.23 percent, or 17.22 points, to close at 7,487.81 points.
Fresnillo, a major multinational metal company, soared 2.69 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Shire and Kingfisher increased by 2.64 percent and 2.03 percent, respectively.
British American Tobacco was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.09 percent. The international packaging and paper group Mondi dropped 1.98 percent, and Johnson Matthey, a British speciality chemicals company, fell 1.98 percent. Enditem
