ZHENGZHOU, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Liu Yunshan, senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), has underlined the importance of Party leadership in helping all the country's poor people out of poverty.
"The key to the campaign for poverty eradication lies in Party leadership," Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said during a three-day inspection tour to central China's Henan Province concluding on Wednesday.
"It is the Party's responsibility to help the people get richer and live good lives," Liu said while visiting poor families and old Party members in several villages.
CPC cadres should "take people in poverty as their own relatives and poverty relief as their domestic affairs," Liu said, urging them to complete poverty relief tasks with "true feeling."
Local authorities should give full play to the creativity of the people and explore different ways out of poverty based on the situations of different areas, he added.
Liu also stressed the spirit of working diligently in defiance of difficulties, saying that Party members should not be afraid of hardship in leading the people out of poverty.
China aims to help all its poor rural population above the poverty line before 2020. At the end of last year, there were still 43.35 million rural people living in poverty.
