KABUL, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- As many as 60 Taliban militants have been killed and 40 others injured during a series of operations in Afghanistan's eastern Paktika province over the past 24 hours, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.
The operations in Sarubi district of the province, launched by police and backed by army units, have led to liberation of several villages from the Taliban, said the statement.
The security forces also destroyed a weapon cache and seized 14 motorbikes of the insurgents during the operations, the statement said.
The Taliban militants have not commented yet.
