BANGKOK, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Board of Investment (BOI) is promoting overseas manufacturing and trading ventures by Thai investors, especially in the ASEAN community, said BOI Secretary General Hirunya Suchinai on Wednesday.
Speaking during the Thailand Overseas Investment Forum 2017 in Bangkok, the BOI secretary general confirmed that the Thai investors will be given promotional privileges and technical support from the BOI and other government agencies for their overseas investment projects in Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, among other ASEAN member states.
Thailand's neighbors have remarkably registered economic growths whereas the Thai investors' projects could potentially be attractive to them, the BOI chief said.
The Thais would likely be given lowly-paid workforce, raw materials and energy sources if they launched investment ventures in those countries, she said.
Hirunya's agency recently led some 70 Thai businesspersons to Laos and Vietnam to find investment opportunities after they had undergone a Bangkok-based orientation course which a total of about 400 prospective investors have finished so far.
