DUBAI, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- The value of United Arab Emirates (UAE) assistance to Yemen during the period April 2015 to July 2017 reached AED 8.63 billion (2.35 billion U.S. dollars), the official news agency WAM reported on Thursday.
"Humanitarian aid amounted to 2.37 billion dirhams during this period, and development assistance accounted for 72.4 percent of the aid," the report said.
Assistance also included public program support, commodity assistance, power generation and supply, health, social services, government and civil society and legal development, education, construction and civil development, water and public health as well as other sub-areas.
The UAE has recently announced a new 10-million-dollar pledge by the World Health Organization to support the organization's health activities in the field and fight cholera within the United Nations response plan in Yemen, said the report by WAM.
