TEHRAN, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Iran's foreign ministry dismissed recent allegations by Saudi Arabia that Tehran is sponsoring terrorism, Tasnim news agency reported on Monday.
Saudi Arabia accusing Iran of supporting terrorism is a failed policy, Bahram Qasemi, foreign ministry spokesman, said in his weekly press conference.
On Friday, Thamer al-Sabhan, Saudi Arabia's minister of state for the Persian Gulf region accused Iran of being at the root of terrorism and extremism and called for global action against Tehran.
Qasemi denounced the accusations and said that the United States and some regional countries are still pursuing to foment Iranophobia.
Iran's influence in the region is inherent and natural, the spokesman noted.
Iran and Saudi Arabia are at loggerheads over regional issues and accusing each other of sponsoring terrorism.
