BARCELONA, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates claimed the Longines Challenge Cup at the FEI Nations Cup jumping final here on Friday.
The UAE took an unsurpassable lead with a total of three points before Sheikh Majid Al Qassimi started with his 10-year-old Celtion.
Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi and his 12-year-old Cha Cha Cha 7 were the only clear round for the UAE. Both Abdullah Mohd Al Marri (Sama Dubai Fbh) and Mohammed Ghanem Al Hajri (Pour Le Poussage) jumped around the 1.60m track with time penalties.
Al Qassimi, who helped his country win the silver in the 2011 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, spoke highly of their team work and vowed to fight for the title in next year's Asiad in Indonesia.
"I missed the Asian Games four years ago and UAE also failed to finish top three, but I will try to help our team to win," said al Qassimi, who finished fifth in the individual competition.
Ireland, who won the European champion four weeks ago but narrowly missed the chance of qualifying for Saturday's eight-team final, finished second. Brazil took the third place.
