TEHRAN, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Tens of thousands of Iranians held a nationwide rally on Friday to condemn the U.S. President Donald Trump's recent decision to move his country's embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
The rally came following the Iranian Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) call for an "anti-U.S.-Israel" protest before a Friday prayers.
In the capital Tehran angry protestors flocked to the streets carrying placards and banners demonstrating their anti-U.S. and anti-Israel sentiments and shouted slogans in the support of Palestinians.
"Al-Quds (Jerusalem) belong to the Muslims and will remain Islamic," the demonstrators said.
"We will stand against this blatant move by the United States and will never allow Trump's unilateral decision to be materialized," Mr. Ahmadi, a school teacher, said.
"The U.S. move will spark another wave of extremism and violence in the region," Maryam, a university student said.
Earlier on Thursday, Iranian senior officials strongly condemned the Washington's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital and called it a "blatant violation of international resolutions."
On Wednesday, Trump announced his recognition of Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel, and instructed the State Department to begin the process of moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
