DAMASCUS, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Syrian and Lebanese authorities reopened Thursday a border crossing that had been closed for five years in Syria's central province of Homs, state news agency SANA reported.
The Jawsiyah crossing in the Qussair town southwest of Homs has been closed as a result of the ongoing conflict, and both countries relied largely on the Masnaa crossing near Damascus.
Interior Minister Muhammad Sha'ar and Talal Barazi, the governor of Homs, attended the reopening ceremony, according to the report.
Travelers and passengers can travel to Lebanon through this crossing from Friday, according to SANA.
Syria and Lebanon share four border crossings, three of which were closed during the war, but most travelers have used the Masnaa crossing.
For the Syrians, traveling to Beirut was a must in order to catch an international flight, as all international flights to Damascus were halted during the war.
