LUANDA, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Russian Ambassador to Angola Vladimir Tararov said Wednesday that with the Angolan Satellite, known as Angosat-1, in orbit the country is now in the club of space powers in the international community.
In a note distributed to the press, the Russian diplomat confirmed that all components of Angosat-1 are working as planned.
He added that with Angosat-1, Angolans will have access to satellite-based advanced technologies for digital television as well as the provision of internet services for distance education technologies, telemedicine, among other benefits.
Tararov underlined that the increase in the information flow with Angosat-1 will also boost the development of the country with emphasis on the industry, banking services and the country's defense potential.
In the note, the diplomat expressed the readiness of Russia to continue cooperating for the socio-economic development of Angola.
Built by a Russian state consortium, Angola's first satellite was placed in orbit on December 26, 2017 from the Baikonur base in Kazakhstan.
