BEIJING, Jan. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- A newly published survey showed that 59 percent of the French are optimistic about their future, reaching the highest level since 2010.

According to the Harris Interactive survey for RTL radio, this number is 15 percentage points higher than a trough in 2012.

This also indicates that the nation is probably getting rid of its reputation as a nation of pessimists.

“There’s probably a bit of a Macron effect,” Jean-Daniel Levy, head of political polling of Harris, told Reuters, pointing to the renewed hope about European integration, one of President Emmanuel Macron’s policy priorities.

Supporters of Macron’s party are the most optimistic, the poll showed.

“The French hear a lot about a better outlook for growth, for jobs. There are signs that show France is less depressed,” Levy added.
