BISHKEK, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyz President Sooronbai Jeenbekov has called for measures to prevent the spread of radicalism, according to his press service.
During a meeting Friday with Zayirbek Ergeshov, director of the State Commission for Religious Affairs, Jeenbekov instructed him to compile a list of religious organizations and educational institutions in Kyrgyzstan and strengthen control over their financial and other activities.
Jeenbekov said that in recent years the tendency to use the religious sphere to radicalize society and spread extremist and terrorist ideas has been intensifying in the world and remains dangerous for Kyrgyzstan.
According to Ergeshov, his organization held more than 500 training events, seminars and international conferences last year to tackle the issue.
