BERLIN, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- The German industrial production increased even better than expected in November 2017 after falls in the previous two months, German federal statistics office Destatis reported on Tuesday.

According to the provisional figures of Destatis, the industrial output was up by 3.4 percent from October 2017 after seasonal, working-day and price adjustments.

The industrial production excluding energy and construction was up by 4.3 percent. The production of capital goods, intermediate goods and consumer goods all showed increases. Energy production was down notably by 3.1 percent, while the production of construction increased by 1.5 percent, Destatis reported.

Economists had only expected a 1.8 percent increase.

The good order intake and optimistic business expectations point to a brisk trend in the industrial economy in the coming months, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy said in a statement.

However, the construction sector seems to be increasingly reaching its capacity limits, the ministry said.
