JAKARTA, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- The government of Indonesia has benefited from rising demand and price of global commodity.
Director General of Minerals and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Gatot Ariyono said Thursday that the government received higher revenue from shipment of the mineral resources products overseas in 2017.
The state revenue from mineral resources and coal grew to 40.6 trillion rupiah (some 3.238 billion U.S. dollars), a big number according to local standard, in 2017, the director general said.
That compares with 27.2 trillion rupiah (about 2.026 billion U.S. dollars) in the previous year, said Ariyono.
"This is very good, because it exceeds our target of 32.7 trillion rupiah (about 2.435 billion U.S. dollars) last year. So, the major causes of the hike could be the hike of volume due to price hike, the price is good," he said at energy and mineral resources ministry.
Indonesia is the world's largest exporter of thermal coal and home to the world's second-biggest copper mine. The country also exports some other mineral resources.
