ACCRA, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Ghana police have intercepted objects they believe to be varied species of explosives here in the capital Accra, a statement from the police High Command said on Monday.
The statement, signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police David Eklu, Director General of Police Public Affairs, added that the interception was based on police intelligence.
The statement said three persons (names withheld) have been arrested in connection with the intercepted explosives and are in police custody.
"Police are investigating the matter in coordination with the relevant agencies and therefore urge the general public to remain calm. Police are continuously working to ensure public safety," the statement said.
It also urged the public to volunteer information they might have on the matter for the authorities to expedite their investigations.
