Inheritor of shadow puppet play

Liu, born in 1992, is the sixth generation inheritor of shadow puppet play in Liujiazhai of Tengchong. Liu established a shadow puppet center in Tengchong to promote the industrial development of the traditional folk art. Shadow play, performed by manipulating flat leather puppets against a lit-up translucent screen, was registered in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO in 2011.
