Fortson's triple-double helps Guangsha win over Xinjiang

BEIJING, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Courtney Fortson contributed 29 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists to Guangsha on Friday's Chinese Basketball Association league (CBA), helping the bellwether defeat Xinjiang 118-94.

Hu Jinqiu inspired Guangsha to a 7-2 run at the beginning of the match. The defending champions ever narrow the gap to two in the second quarter, but Hu dunked and led his team to have the lead in the game.

Lin Chih-Chieh of Guangsha enjoyed an easy basket after accepting Fortson's pass, changing the score to 106-78 in the middle of the last quarter. And then both teams sent on bench players. At last, Guangsha locked the score at 118-94 after a six-minute garbage time.

Hu snatched 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Ioannis Bourousis piled up a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Darius Adams was the best player of Xinjiang in the battle, earning 24 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists.

Shenzhen was up by 18 at halftime when it facing against Qingdao. Before the final whistle of the third quarter, Shenzhen' s lead was 11. Qingdao earned points with its advantages of speed, while its opponent had advantages inside the paint. Gu Quan scored 31 points in the match, turning his team's advantages into a victory.

After the 121-103 win, Shenzhen occupied the seventh place in CBA standings after 28 rounds in regular season.

In the other three games played on Friday, Shanghai beat Bayi 117-93, Sichuan edged Jiangsu 107-104, Tongxi lost to Guangdong 113-89.
