KHARTOUM, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- A complete power blackout hit all Sudan's states on Sunday, said the National Electricity Network Control Center.
"A full shutdown of the network occurred at 6:50 p.m. local time (1650 GMT)," the center said in a statement.
The center did not give reasons for the power outage, but said "operations are underway to restore the network and connect the electricity generating stations. The power will gradually be restored."
Sudan's national electricity network suffers power outages from time to time.
In May 2015, a technical fault on the carrying line between Khartoum and Merowe left the country in a complete blackout.
In February 2017, most parts of Sudan experienced full electricity blackout due to a technical fault in the automatic protection system.
The most recent complete power outage was on Jan. 10 this year.
