YANGON, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Four company security staff have drowned in mud water from two old mining companies in Phakant mining area in Myanmar's northernmost Kachin state, the Information Ministry said Monday.
The mud water reservoir located at the working plot of the two mining companies - Sein Nay Chi and Mya Oo Yin near Katay village - leaked on Saturday midnight with the mud water flowing out to the working plot of the third company - Tabawa Ah Kaung Sone lying underneath, submerging the four victims.
The authorities have been searching for the bodies by excavators.
Meanwhile, six people were killed with another one injured in a landslide near a jade mine in the Hpakant mining region early this month.
That landslide occurred due to collapse of spoil tip which was formed by waste dug out by a mining company.
