SANTIAGO, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- China and Trinidad and Tobago are willing to work harder to deepen bilateral cooperation, their foreign ministers said here on Monday.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday met his Trinidad and Tobago counterpart Dennis Moses at the second ministerial meeting for the China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Forum in Santiago, capital of Chile.

Wang said both sides have kept a traditional friendship. Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Trinidad and Tobago in 2013 elevated bilateral relations to a new stage of development.

The frequent contacts and exchanges between the two sides and their smooth practical cooperation have brought tangible benefits to the two peoples, Wang said.

China appreciates and supports Trinidad and Tobago's active participation in the Belt and Road construction and is willing to deepen bilateral cooperation under this framework so as to realize mutual benefit and a win-win outcome.

Moses appreciated the support and help China has provided for Trinidad and Tobago as well as the contribution made by local Chinese.

Trinidad and Tobago supports the Belt and Road construction and is willing to make further efforts to promote the development of the relations between Caribbean countries and China, Moses added.
