BEIJING, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- China's key stock index ended a seven-day winning streak Thursday, as strong non-ferrous and gold shares failed to offset losses in gas and securities sectors.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.31 percent to close at 3,548.31, and the Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.47 percent lower at 11,552.56.

Combined turnover on the two bourses stood at 581 billion yuan (91.2billion U.S. dollars), slightly down from 585.7 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Non-ferrous shares performed well Thursday, with Anhui Zhongyuan New Materials Co. Ltd and Jiangyin Electrical Alloy Co. Ltd both surging by the daily limit of 10 percent to end at 30 yuan and 26.28 yuan per share, respectively.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style enterprises, lost 0.14 percent to close at 1,810.13.

Leshi Internet Information and Technology, a major growth firm listed on ChiNext, continued to see shares fall by the daily limit of 10 percent on Thursday after it resumed trading Wednesday following a nine-month suspension.
