RIYADH, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi-led coalition against Houthi militias in Yemen called on all armed groups to immediately stop clashes in Aden, Saudi Press Agency reported Tuesday.
It is the second such call in a week by the coalition, which warned of necessary measures to restore security and stability in Aden, yet without specifying concrete steps or if military action would be taken in the temporary capital of Yemen.
The coalition also asked all Yemeni people to focus on basic goals, especially restoring legitimacy, protecting the components of the state, restoring security and stability and resolving all issues through the available political mechanisms.
Tensions have recently started to spike between southern separatists and the government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi over the control of the southern half of Yemen.
Over the past three years, Yemeni civilians have been severely hit by a civil war between Iranian-backed Houthis and internationally-recognized government of Hadi, in addition to clashes between armed groups and Saudi-led airstrikes, causing deaths, illness and harsh living conditions in the Arab country.
