ALGIERS, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Algeria said Wednesday it is willing to share with Belgium its experience in terms of preventing religious extremism and promoting moderation through training Imams established in Belgium.
"The Ministry of Religious Affairs is willing to cooperate, exchange experiences and training imams in Belgium in a bid to help offering moderate Islam there in the service of the State of Belgium just like the case in Algeria," said Minister of Religious Affairs Mohamed Aissa.
He made the remarks following his meeting with Belgian Deputy Foreign Minister Didier Reynders, who is in Algeria since Tuesday for a two-day visit.
"Algeria has an experience in terms of preventing extremism and training Imams who know how to to preach moderation and find a link between patriotism and Islam," Aissa said, adding that this experience is worth being transmitted to other countries.
The Belgian minister said that his meeting with the religious affairs minister allowed him to understand the policy followed by Algeria when it comes to organizing worship.
